Hurricanes Team Expectations

Dear Parents:

Welcome to the sixth grade at North Davidson Middle School. We are thrilled to have your child on our “Hurricanes Team”! The Hurricane teachers are Mrs. Adkins, Ms. Fox, Mrs. Leatherman, and Mrs. Wright. Each day your child will have these four core subjects along with two encore classes.


Remote Learning Expectations

We believe that communication between parents and teachers strengthen the opportunity for success in school. Our goal this school year is to create an atmosphere that is conducive for achieving the highest level of educational opportunities. This will include interaction between parents, teachers, and the student. We welcome any comments/thoughts/suggestions through the following ways:

EMAIL IS OUR PREFERRED MODE OF COMMUNICATION AND WILL RENDER A MORE TIMELY RESPONSE DUE TO OUR ONGOING ACCESS TO OUR COMPUTER


Agendas are a requirement and should be purchased outside the school since they will not be sold at NDMS.     


Rules:


  1. Report to class on time with all necessary materials.
  2. Listen carefully and follow the directions.
  3. Be responsible for all assignments.
  4. Respect the rights and properties of others.
  5. Follow all school, bus, and lunch rules.

Students will conduct themselves in a manner that protects the right of every student to learn and of every teacher to teach. The following are the class rules for our sixth grade.




Other expectations:


  1. School work is to be completed on time and done accurately and neatly.
  2. Students must check school email at LEAST three times throughout the day (for example - 8:30, 11:30, 2:30).
  3. All rules are to be obeyed at all times. They can be found in the school handbook online.

 








Grades, Grades, Grades!!


Your child will be assigned various activities to complete. Every assignment is just as important as the other; however, some will affect an overall average more than another. All classwork will be submitted in a timely manner. Students should organize their work in a binder.


All assignments are expected to be completed. Every student is responsible for making up work missed due to an absence. Your child must follow the make up policy stated in NDMS handbook.


Grades will be recorded by teachers in PowerSchool (parent-portal). Please make sure that you have log-in information for PowerSchool in order to be able to access your child’s grades as soon as they are recorded. This is a GREAT way to stay abreast of your child’s ongoing progress. 


We want to make the transition from elementary to middle school as smoothly as possible. We recognize that all students come as unique individuals with his/her own learning style and interests. If there are special needs/requests/concerns we need to know, please share via email.
