40% Major Works (tests, projects, presentations & other teacher-defined assignments)
35% Minor Works (quizzes, group & teacher-led activities, notebooks)
Missing or late Assignments:
Work is expected to be turned in at the time it is due. If there are extenuating circumstances, please see the teacher before the due date, if possible.
Assignment Policy for Absences:
All work must be made up within five (5) school days following the return to school (per school policy). This applies to work missed due to an absence for any reason. Students are responsible for finding out which assignments were missed and completing them within the specified time period. If the student was present the day an assignment was given, but absent the day it was due, it is to be turned in the day the student returns.
NOTE - No work will be accepted five (5) days before the end of the quarter. This means that work missed right before the end of a grading period may not have the full 5 day period to complete. If your child has an absence right before the end of the quarter, I will work with them to get assignments completed.
If your student says he or she does not have homework, what they mean to say is that they do not have "written homework". A huge transition in middle school is many times students need to study notes and vocabulary without having a "written" homework assignment.
Students are responsible for recording daily assignments. Major assignments, quizzes, and test will be posted on the GOOGLE CLASSROOM CALENDAR and the Remind App.
Students are responsible for completing their OWN work, whether in class or at home. I expect our students to avoid plagiarism (submitting work that is not their own) and display their BEST work. I do not know your child’s strengths and weaknesses if we don’t see the child’s actual work.
Students are expected to behave in a manner that allows the teacher to teach and other students to learn. Any inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Students will adhere to the NDMS behavior policies in the student agenda.
Progress reports will not be sent home. If you haven’t already done so, please visit the front office to get an access code to view your child’s grades in PowerSchool.
Please call or email email@example.com to schedule a conference. Times and days will vary depending on required meetings and school schedule.
