Flute Players

Cleaning rod and soft cloth

Polishing cloth for your instrument’s finish (nickel or silver)

Clarinet and Saxophone Players

Swab

At least 3 good reeds should be kept at all times and keep them in rotation.

6th graders can start playing on Rico or Juno brand reeds.  2 ½ or 3 hardness is appropriate for beginners, we will move to Van Doren brand reeds 2 ½ or 3 hardness after 6 weeks.

7th and 8th graders should use one of the following brands with a hardness that is comfortable to you:  Van Doren brand 3 – 4 hardness

Legere brand (plastic) 2 ½ - 3 ½ hardness

Reed Guard (to keep reeds dry and to prevent chipping)

Cork Grease

Trumpet and Low Brass Players

Mouthpiece (7C for 6th Grade Trumpet – 5C for 7th and 8th Grade Trumpet – 6 ½ AL for Baritone – Conn Helleberg Standard for Tuba)

Valve oil

Tuning slide grease

Snake

Mouthpiece brush

Soft cloth for wiping off oils and grease

Polishing cloth for your instrument’s finish (lacquer or silver)

French Horn Players

Mouthpiece (Holton Farkas Medium Deep Cup)

Rotor oil

Tuning slide grease

Slide Cream or Slide Oil
