I began my teaching career in New Haven, Indiana as a seventh-grade mathematics teacher and secondary reading teacher focused on students developing comprehension skills used during reading. I taught there for four years and coached basketball and volleyball for twelve years until June 2011 when our family moved to Greensboro, North Carolina.
My first position, in August 2011, was at Southwest Middle School in Guilford County as the Test Coordinator planning and scheduling all district and state tests for students. I also coached middle school volleyball at High Point Christian School.
In 2012 at Southwest, I taught seventh-grade mathematics. Then in 2013, I taught sixth-grade math and social studies. I also assisted with the girl's basketball team during those two years.
AND THEN in the summer of 2013, we moved again to Wallburg where we feel so comfortable with the rolling hills and farmlands nearby. This is my tenth year teaching in Davidson County. I have taught 7th grade Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies during this time.
My first year as a Physical Education and Health teacher was amazing!!! I love my tiny coach office, the new curriculum in my health classroom and the fun environment with my fellow teammates in the gymnasium. I am looking forward to another wonderful year. This will be my twenty-fourth year as a girl's basketball coach. This never gets old and every year brings more wonderful girls to coach.
Flexibility is important in a team environment. I have many licenses and love teaching no matter the subject. Students that want to learn and work, will be successful. I look forward to helping you with your goals in education. See you in the health classroom and the gym.
